The early explorers came to Canada by sea, and this region has been influenced in many ways by the bodies of water surrounding it. Even today, the sea is an integral part of life in Acadia. The sea and its storms inspired several key composers of the Baroque period to write Water Music suites and numerous opera arias. This concert will also feature the world premiere of Acadian composer Frédéric Chiasson’s arrangements of Acadian folk songs for soprano and baroque
orchestra.
