Handel in Italy: passion, virtuosity, and theater

A program entirely devoted to George Frideric Handel, centered on the cantata Il Delirio amoroso, a masterpiece composed during the composer’s early years in Italy.
This deeply theatrical work tells the mythical story of Cloris, who is prepared to descend into the Underworld to save her beloved Thyrsis. Between sorrow, tenderness, and virtuosic brilliance, this early work already reveals the full dramatic genius of the composer. The program is enriched with dazzling instrumental works: the famous Musette from Concerto grosso Op. 6 No. 6, the spectacular Passacaglia in G minor for harpsichord, and a rarely performed dance suite from Terpsichore.

Un programme entièrement consacré à Georg Friedrich Haendel, centré autour de la cantate Il Delirio amoroso, chef-d’œuvre composé durant les années italiennes du jeune Haendel.
Cette œuvre profondément théâtrale raconte le destin mythique de Cloris, prête à descendre aux Enfers pour sauver son bien-aimé Thyrsis. Entre douleur, tendresse et éclats virtuoses, la musique révèle déjà tout le génie dramatique du compositeur.  Le programme est enrichi de pages instrumentales éclatantes : la célèbre Musette du Concerto grosso op. 6 no 6, la spectaculaire Passacaille en sol mineur pour clavecin et la rare suite de danses tirée de Terpsicore.
